Annual Senior Walk With Me

The Annual Senior Walk with Me is a community wellness initiative organized by the African Family Revival Organization (AFRO) to promote active living, meaningful companionship, and social connection among Black and African elders across Kitchener-Waterloo. We hold this walk because older adults in immigrant and racialized communities frequently encounter social isolation, language barriers, and a lack of culturally welcoming spaces to stay physically active and socially engaged. During the event, seniors and community members come together in an accessible, celebratory environment to enjoy gentle movement, share stories, foster intergenerational bonds with youth and families, and access valuable community well-being resources. Through this gathering, the program aims to reduce isolation among elders, honor their lifelong wisdom and contributions, enhance their physical and emotional vitality, and cultivate a deeply connected, multigenerational network where older adults feel visible, valued, and supported.
