Older adults with dementia

And their caregivers - with systems navigation, accessing resources, and personal planning, with culturally-grounded support. At AFRO, we believe that when families are supported, communities thrive. Through culturally grounded programs, intergenerational support, and collaborative partnerships, we work to remove barriers, uplift voices, and create opportunities for long-term social well-being.

Reduce Isolation

Throughout this project, AFRO will be hosting in-person social evenings, where we will gather, connect, share food, laughs, and stories, and enjoy cultural presentations and activities. At AFRO, we believe that when families are supported, communities thrive. Through culturally grounded programs, intergenerational support, and collaborative partnerships, we work to remove barriers, uplift voices, and create opportunities for long-term social well-being.

Engage Youth

Core to this program is building intergenerational relationships. We are seeking youth volunteers who can act as “buddies” with older adult participants, and provide practical help, along with building relationships across generations. At AFRO, we believe that when families are supported, communities thrive. Through culturally grounded programs, intergenerational support, and collaborative partnerships, we work to remove barriers, uplift voices, and create opportunities for long-term social well-being.

This program is part of The Resilience Project, and is funded by the Lyle S Hallman Foundation.
